In a previous post I mentioned all of the documents that we needed to gather and submit (physicals, bank statements, tax forms etc.). Well, last week we submitted all of our required documents (with exception of our autobiographies) and sent in our check covering our preplacement assessment (aka home study). A HUGE step! Once all of our references are submitted then we move onto the next phase which is to wait for the home study visit and interviews which is typically about a 3 month wait.
In that wait time we still have plenty to do. We have 4 online classes to complete, an infant CPR class, and a workshop through our adoption agency that is scheduled for April and another we will take in the fall. We also need to begin putting together our photo album that they will show to prospective birth parents and compose a letter to the prospective birth parents. We also need to prep our home for the home study visit.
I am thankful that we attended the meeting and applied when we did (in December) because the agency has placed another hold on accepting couples adopting domestic infants. If we would have opted not to go to that meeting in December then we would still be waiting for another meeting which may not come until Spring which would put us several months behind where we are or we would be forced to go with another agency.
We obviously still have a long way to go, but it felt good to mark all of those things off of our checklist!!! Right now just pray for patience for us because at this point the timeline is out of our control...we just take classes and WAIT!!! So hard to wait when we've already been on such a rough journey for 3 years...thank you so much for the continued support and prayers...we couldn't do this alone!
